Mike Coolbaugh was in his first season as the hitting coach for the Tulsa Drillers when he was struck in the neck by a foul ball while coaching 1st base on July 22, 2007. The ball, which is estimated to have been traveling over 100 mph, instantly killed Coolbaugh making him the only coach to ever die on the field in the history of baseball. Mike, who was only 35 years old, left behind 2 sons and a pregnant wife. Friends and family have organized this annual golf tournament as a way to remember the amazing man Mike was, and to help support his wife Mandy and their three children. This year Mandy would like to give back to others in her community and promote safety in baseball nationwide. She feels that so many people have blessed her family with heartfelt messages and cards as well as donations, she wants to help others. The proceeds from this year's tournament will go partially to help support Mandy and the kids, but also to start a baseball clinic for kids from San Antonio who have lost a family member. She also wants to do what she can to promote safer conditions for baseball players, coaches and fans at every level. Please join us to help support this heartfelt mission.

The 2008 Coolbaugh Memorial Tournament was a great success! We would like to sincerely thank our sponsors and everyone who came out to play. It was a beautiful day for golf and the course was in great shape again this year. The dinner and auction started off with an emotional dvd tribute with pictures and video of Mike when he played for Round Rock. We had an amazing surprise after the video when Bill Geivett, VP of the Rockies, presented Joey, Jake and Anne Michael with 2007 National League Championship Series rings. The auction was a lot of fun and helped to raise a good amount of money to help support Mandy and the kids. Thank you to everyone who donated money or wrote notes or cards to the Coolbaughs over the last year and a half. Every donation is truly appreciated and Mandy is very thankful for all of your thoughts and prayers.
